From Abraham to Joseph of Egypt
Summary of the Module
Our first parents were banished from the Earthly Paradise! The storms of the Flood have passed! The pride of the builders of the Tower of Babel was punished by the confusion of minds and languages! Had man finally recognized his fragility, joined his hands, bent his knees and surrendered as an obedient and loving son to his Creator? No! A new form of iniquity appears on the face of the earth: idolatry. Let’s explore the depths of this sin together in this module, but above all, let’s rejoice over a new plan drawn up by God: the choice of a people from which the Redeemer of the world will be born!
The “Lord of the Universe”, in the midst of so many unfaithful people, chooses a man, a patriarch, full of faith and enthusiasm, who will give birth to a glorious posterity “more numerous than the stars” (Gen 15:5): Abraham. We will accompany him from Ur of the Chaldeans in Mesopotamia to the land of Canaan, watch in amazement as the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah are punished, and follow the tremendous trials that Abraham will have to go through.
Next, we will experience the adventures of his son Isaac, his dramas and, especially, his response to the grace that made him a worthy son of such a great father. The story of Jacob, Isaac’s descendant, will cause us great commotion! It was he who snatched the blessing of primogeniture, gave birth to the 12 tribes of the chosen people and wrestled with an Angel, thus coming to be called “Israel” (the man who wrestled with God) for his holy boldness!
We will end our journey through the blessed pages of the Bible, seeing how much God tested Jacob and his son Joseph, in order to glorify them more, save the Hebrews and show us that the Lord always leads historical events by rewarding, forgiving and doing justice!
Under the blessings of Our Lady, we wish you all the most abundant graces to understand and love the beautiful teachings of Sacred History.
